Oral Cancer Day
Oral cancer is the fastest growing cancer, and surprisingly with many who do not fit into the stereotypical ‘high risk’ group – that being heavy smokers and consumers of alcohol. It is now recommended that anyone over 25 years of age be screened annually for this specific illness.

Appleway has invested in the very latest technology to screen for oral cancer - that being the Velscope which in itself is a Canadian success story. Developed in B.C. in conjunction with the B.C. Cancer Agency – this unit allows the dental team to see lesions that may otherwise be invisible to the naked eye. All Appleway Dental Clinics have been equipped with this technology. Our Oral Cancer Day opened our doors to the population of Red Deer, and we have conducted hundreds of FREE cancer screenings. As most patients put it – ‘it never hurts to be sure when it comes to cancer’!
