At Appleway Dental Clinics we have a simple preference – no more black fillings! There is great controversy over mercury amalgam fillings and we can only add that if they are unsafe for pregnant women and small children we won’t use them on anyone.

There are many alternatives.

Composite Fillings
These are tooth coloured, strong, safe, and pleasing to see. They match the natural colour of your teeth, and will strengthen the remaining tooth structure plus prevent any further breakage or damage.

Bonding
This is a conservative and cost effective cosmetic restoration. It is a special resin that adheres to your teeth and actually blends with the natural enamel. The application is layered, so that it can be used to reshape a smile.

Porcelain Fillings
Unsightly mercury fillings can be replaced with porcelain. We do not remove fillings that are healthy and still doing their job – but if they must come out it can take decades off your appearance by replacement with white fillings.
